Medical and nursing trainees, as upcoming stewards of
the health care system—and their faculty—should
learn in clinical settings that reflect the best achievable
care. This session explores strategies for accelerating
improvement in both patient care and trainee education
in academic medical centers. The knowledge gained
from case studies and experiences of some of the 68
interprofessional teams (physicians, nurses, managers,
and health professions trainees) in the Academic
Chronic Care and Academic Rapid Response
Collaboratives will be shared.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Describe implementation strategies to improve patient care and trainee education in academic health care settings.
- Harness and utilize drivers of change that are available in academic health centers.
- Build interprofessional teams that are capable of exemplary improvement in academic settings.
