This session will describe the shortcomings of
publications of current quality improvement work;
identify the key elements and criteria needed for
reporting quality improvement work; use those elements
and criteria to critique published quality improvement
reports; and develop ideas on how to use those elements
and criteria to improve your own improvement work and
resultant publications.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Discuss the nature of the quality improvement literature and the value of contributing to it.
- Analyze the specific strengths and limitations of published reports of quality improvement work using publication guidelines.
- Explain the nature of the evidence supporting the effectiveness of QI work, and of the factors that improve the quality of that evidence.
