C8 Create a Physician Compact to Strengthen Trust and Engagement in Safety Improvement

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center offers an outstanding example of an organization that has improved quality and safety by strengthening the trust between the medical staff and administration. The cornerstone of this effort to build trust and align physician and institutional goals is their physician compact. This session will describe how the compact was developed and is being employed to achieve dramatic improvement in care and outcomes.

After this presentation you will be able to:

  • Discuss the relationship between mutually agreed upon, reciprocal expectations between physicians and an organization (the compact) and care and safety improvement.
  • Describe how to renegotiate and implement a compact that strengthens trust and engagement in improving care.
  • Articulate lessons from one organization’s compact process that can be applied to your institution.
