James Mountford, MD, Health Foundation Fellow, Institute for Healthcare Improvement
This session will help leaders design and launch a portfolio of quality improvement (QI) and waste reduction projects that will achieve the dual aims of dramatically improving quality for patients and eliminating unnecessary cost. The linkages required between clinical/QI and finance departments, and the role of senior leaders in delivering these projects, will also be discussed.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Discuss the concepts and major challenges of implementing a “business case for quality” within current health care systems.
- Describe the leadership actions needed to achieve both improvement in care and more sustainable financials.
- Create a portfolio of projects that link improvements for patients and cost savings.
- Define important linkages between the financial, clinical, and operational processes required for success.
