This session will begin with a formal presentation including the definition of self-management, the key methods of enhancing self-efficacy, and an overview of the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Programs (both small group and Internet based). A brief needs assessment in which the participants will decide the topics to be covered in the workshop will also be included.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Define self-management and self-efficacy.
- Differentiate self-management from patient education.
- Indicate four means for enhancing self-efficacy.
- Define self-tailoring and assist patients in making self-tailored action plans.
