Demystifying Myths and Overcoming Fears Associated with Grant Writing

Marc Mannes, Director of Applied Research, Search Institute

This session is designed to demystify and ease anxiety about the grant writing process. Several major issues will be addresses at this session:

  • Discovering methods for being smart and productive in identifying grant opportunities
  • Determining ways to develop grants and remain true to your organization’s mission
  • Learning how to follow the proper grant writing script and become successful
  • Understanding who your grant review audience is
  • Acquiring tips on how to make a persuasive case for either program development or capital campaigns
  • Gaining insights on how your successful grant writing can be turned into organizational accomplishments.

For nearly three decades, Marc Mannes has been successfully writing federal, state, and foundation grants for community-based, state, regional and national organizations. He has produced millions of dollars for organizations he has worked for and consulted with. He has also worked for the federal government, and has an insider’s perspective on how grants are reviewed, and what it takes to be a successful applicant. Marc has received several grants to teach others how to write effective grant applications.
