Moderator: Thomas Stewart Shiner, AIA, Thomas S. Shiner Architect, Washington, D.C.
David C. Hughes, AIA, RP Hughes Architects Inc., Columbus, Ohio

Discuss the types of contracts used to design and construct a small project. A panel of small project practitioners, with differing views on the protection level and complexity an agreement should provide, will present a case study of an actual small project. We’ll emphasize the type of contracts used and the contracts’ effect on the project’s success.

Learning objectives:

  • Discuss issues and demands surrounding small project agreements
  • Justify a preference for one type of agreement over another
  • Develop a sound basis for recommendations to owners and contractors.
