William Jay Rakatansky, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, FreemanWhite Inc., Charlotte

Identify a step-by-step process that clarifies provisions of the International Building Code (IBC) that might otherwise be overlooked, misapplied, or misunderstood. Use this process to apply the code to any project and successfully design and comply with basic building code provisions.

Learning objectives:

  • Initiate an IBC code-compliant architectural design
  • Apply the steps necessary to create an IBC code-compliant building and locate/apply the correct code tables and provisions
  • Analyze a project for code compliance with the major aspects of the International Building Code, thereby arriving at a code-conforming design.
