In 2007 the AIA will mark its 150th anniversary with a Blueprint for America initiative, in which architects, working through their components, will collaborate with mayors, other government officials, and fellow citizens on a community service program that addresses a community’s distinct needs and produces a vision for a healthier, more livable future. Join a panel from the AIA150 Blueprint for America task group to examine a wide range of Blueprint initiatives and discuss how to engage community leaders, citizens, and other stakeholders in the process; conduct a town hall meeting, charrette, or other community visioning event; work with the media; plan and budget for the program, and more.
Learning objectives:
- Review and discuss the progress to date of various Blueprint initiatives
- Examine sample programs that represent diverse partnerships and methodologies, range from public policy initiatives to bricks and mortar, and have been undertaken by both large and small staffed and unstaffed components.
- Collect information about programs, criteria, grant procedures, and more.
