This session will examine how industry and academia are collaborating, and how such collaboration could be expanded and improved. In the so-called “hard” sciences, academics are leading the commercial industries in research and development. How could journalism benefit from a similar model? In this session, newsroom managers will gain a better understanding of how industry-focused research in academia functions. Academics will find better ways to integrate applied research opportunities into the classroom.
