Donna Falvowill be talking about Patient-Centered Education and how to put theory into actual practice. She will discuss the difference between just information giving and actual educating the patient based on their assessed needs and their goals. She will also discuss ways to assess if the education efforts have been effective or not. After the presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Distinguish between information giving and engaging in patient-centered education
- Describe strategies for developing a partnership with the patient in a time-efficient manner
- Outline a plan for assessing patient education needs from the patient’s perspective
- Describe methods for maximizing patient participation in patienteducation
- Develop a plan for measuring patient-centered education effectiveness
