Larry Rosen, President & CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles
This session provides a brief but strategic review of the elements of our magnificent charitable institution that makes us by character a builder of community and civil society and so important to ordinary citizens: what is the true heart of our inspired institution? Why campaigns are so central to building leadership and creating community; why campaigns give donors a chance to make change in their world; how the YMCA allows each person to be a co-owner/founder of the YMCA - It's about INVOLVING NOT SERVING!
In addition this session includes a brief review of threats that must be faced to salvage this unique principled character of the YMCA so needed by society in general and by the millennium generation in particular today: have we as YMCA leaders actually undervalued our position in, and importance to individuals, families, and communities? What are some of the false gods and myths that must be conquered by our leaders? How can we insure that our operations are aligned with our values and purpose? Are we minimizing our impact on society by poor investment of scarce resources? It's about IMPACTING NOT JUST GROWING!
