This session presents an overview of using a “lean” approach to eliminate waste and improve clinic flow, including information on basic lean tools and their application. Hear about the experiences of drilling down into different components of clinic flow. Samples of standardized processes will be shared, along with a discussion of the challenges of integrating “lean” with overall office redesign and of spreading change across multiple practices.
After this presentation you will be able to:

  1. Identify the core principles and tools of the Toyota System Production analysis.
  2. Explain how to apply “lean” analysis to a clinical office setting.
  3. Describe some take home tools and how to use them in any office setting.
  4. Discuss the challenges of changing processes and spreading the “least waste ways” across practices.
