America’s chronic health care “crisis” cannot be addressed adequately simply by improving the
individual’s experience of health care. It involves pursuing three goals simultaneously, what IHI
refers to as the “Triple Aim”: improving care, improving the health status of populations, and
reducing (or at least slowing the rate of growth of) per capita health care costs. This session
examines some system changes for accomplishing the Triple Aim.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Evaluate how your practice could contribute to achieving the Triple Aim.
- Describe how far better care can be attained at lower cost through population-based designs.
