This session reviews the key components of a fully electronic primary care office, the benefits of each
feature, and how the components relate to each other. Attendees will identify important questions and
considerations for selecting functionality and system design, then apply these principles to improve one of
four functionalities in their system — care management, patient portals, e‐visits, or interfaces for results
reporting. They will also create a flow diagram for this component, including the interactions with other
components, and plan next steps for implementing or improving for their selected functionality.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Describe the various components of a fully electronic office.
- Identify the desirable features, interdependencies with other systems, and benefits of the fully
electronic office for care management, patient portal, e‐visits and results reporting.
- List five key questions that must be addressed before moving forward with the four
functionalities.
