When health providers acknowledge and support families as partners in care and decision making, outcomes improve—for patient, family, and provider alike. This interactive session will discuss case examples to illustrate the challenges, dynamics, and realities of the patient-family-provider relationship. What it takes from each partner to build family-centered care into a quality improvement strategy and practice will also be explored.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Identify the principles of family-centered care and how to apply them in your work.
- Describe how to use the skills and expertise of the patient-family-provider relationship to create family-centered care quality improvement strategies and practices.
