This session will enable health care leaders to more closely link quality improvement interventions to evidence-based physical design. For example, hand sanitizer dispensers in each patient room can increase hand washing compliance rates and thus reduce harm to patients, the focus of IHI’s 5 Million Lives Campaign. Physical design can also directly impact other improvement initiatives, such as Transforming Care at the Bedside, improving flow, and reducing emergency department wait times.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Describe the connections between the latest evidence-based physical design features and the quality improvement work being conducted within the IHI Learning and Innovation Communities.
- Utilize evidence-based physical design to enhance your quality improvement initiatives.
- Articulate the compelling business case for evidence-based physical design interventions.
