Implementation of Rapid Response Systems in teaching hospitals provides unique challenges that include academic culture, traditional resident trainee teaching models, and complex hierarchical administrative structures. However, when these issues are addressed strategically, measurable reduction in out-of-ICU codes and mortality can be achieved. This workshop will examine case studies of successful implementation of Rapid Response Systems to explore lessons that might be generalized to other systems innovations in these settings.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Examine successful strategies for implementing Rapid Response Systems in teaching hospitals.
- Develop strategies to address cultural, organizational and resident trainee issues that challenge systems innovation in academic settings.
