Caregivers have less time with patients and limited opportunities for communication, and they must focus on the “illness” rather than the whole person. This session describes Schwartz Center Rounds, which offer a forum for multidisciplinary caregivers to discuss social-emotional issues inherent in patient care. The benefits of this relationship-centered, cost-effective program will be discussed, and participants will take part in a mock Rounds session.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Describe the importance of discussing social-emotional challenges that arise in care for patients.
- Recognize the importance of relationship and patient-centered health care programs.
- Apply a proven model for improving compassionate care by launching Schwartz Center Rounds in your health care institution.
