Dale Ann Micalizzi, JoEllen Koerner, PhD, RN, FAAN
Dale Ann Micalizzi never thought she’d assume the position of Advocate
for Pediatric Patient Safety and Transparency in Medicine. However, after
losing her son, Justin, at the age of 11 following an incision and drainage
of a septic ankle, her quest became one of learning from the devastating loss and making a
difference that would improve pediatric healthcare and the current system of responding to adverse
events. She proceeded to create the foundation, Justin’s HOPE, which focuses on Healthcare
Openness, Professionalism and Excellence via education, research and reform.
Dr. Koerner has extensive executive level management/leadership
experience in healthcare administration, education, regulation and
ecommerce. She has worked for several years in virtual education
with curriculum modeling and delivery. As Chief Nursing Officer of a
large health system, she co-founded the Healing Web, a collaborative
education-service model that facilitates service learning in the community. She also facilitated
development of a virtual clinical assessment and training center while Chief Clinical Officer
at Simulis. |
