The number one indicator of a nonprofit’s operational health is the relationship between the executive director and the board of directors. Where there is great trust, honest communication, and clear definition of roles and boundaries, the nonprofit is in good position to succeed. If any of those factors are lacking, the organization’s capacity to achieve its mission can be greatly hampered.
