Faculty for this workshop will present the evidence behind the FDA warnings on psychotropic medications and provide practical advice for consumers taking these medications, including how to monitor for adverse effects and prevent negative outcomes. For example, an antipsychotic medication has a warning of increased risk of stroke and death in elderly people. Whom does this warning apply to? How safe are antipsychotic medications for people with existing heart problems or high blood pressure? What is the risk of diabetes?
