Join us as we hear from and honor the many NAMI leaders and members who help make NAMI great. The new NAMI National Board of Directors will also be introduced at this session.
    The Outstanding Media Awards will be presented during this session. These awards are a popular, informative, and important part of the convention. They give NAMI a chance to thank editors and reporters who have distinguished themselves through accuracy, balance, and compassion. This year’s honorees have written about many cutting-edge issues: the treatment of soldiers with mental illnesses sent to the front lines in Iraq; a mother’s efforts to help a six-year-old child; the 30-year journey of a woman with schizophrenia through the mental healthcare maze; the need for investment in a changing state system; and criminal justice issues involving mental health courts, police training, and death row.
    This session will also include a special address by Congressman Bob Filner (D-CA).
