Cognitive Enhancement Therapy (CET) was designed and tested at the University of Pittsburgh with the aid of a NIMH grant. This innovative treatment has been demonstrated to address the cognitive and social cognitive deficits in schizophrenia and to improve some aspects of functional outcome. A CET manual, dedicated software, and CET Master Coaches (trainers) allow replication of the therapy both in research and community settings. The treatment consists of social cognitive groups, computer and cognitive exercises, and individual treatment sessions. CET interventions will be explained and demonstrated, and audience members will be invited to participate in computer and cognitive exercises. The results of continuing dissemination of CET to non-academic community settings will also be discussed.
