1-H: A New Look at Family: When a Parent Has a Mental Illness

Family dynamics are changed when a parent has a mental illness. In this workshop, a parent with a mental illness will describe the effect it had on the family. We will also hear from an adult son who grew up in a family with a parent with a mental illness. Recent research showing positive outcomes for parents with mental illnesses, and current efforts by NAMI on the affiliate and national levels to develop resources for these families will also be shared.
