Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training has proven to be of great value to law enforcement officers, individuals in crisis, and the community — in those communities where it has been implemented. NAMI affiliates are natural partners in developing and delivering CIT training because NAMI members often benefit by having officers with CIT skills interfacing with persons in crisis. This workshop will outline specific steps for building the collaboration necessary to achieve CIT, an understanding of the role NAMI members can play in the development and delivery of CIT, and an overview of the components of an effective CIT program.
