NAMI advocates need tools to more effectively influence the policy process. Presenters in this workshop are a current state legislator and a former state commissioner of mental health. Participants will learn how to clearly communicate the NAMI message to policymakers. We will also address how to build coalitions and align your interests with others, including the community mental health system. Information on how to frame your issues so that they are relevant to policymakers’ current concerns and where to go for resources and data to support your advocacy goals will also be shared.
