In 2003, the President’s New Freedom Commission on Mental Health identified Network of Care for Mental Health as a model program that illustrates its goal of using technology to access mental healthcare and information. Network of Care is an Internet resource where consumers, community-based organizations, and municipal government workers can all go to easily access a wide variety of important information. The resources in this “virtual community” include a comprehensive library, a political advocacy tool, community message boards, and many others. The program was developed as a collaborative by the California Department of Mental Health, San Diego County, and Trilogy Integrated Resources. This session will take a close look at how this resource is making a difference in the lives of consumers, family members, and agencies alike.
