Within limits, the brain is an organ that to a remarkable — and very practical degree — shapes and reshapes itself as we live, learn, and behave. A substantial literature supports this assertion. Consequences for recovery from mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and major depression are profound and will be pursued in this special session. Materials covered will include relevant background information and state-of-the-art, ongoing research, and will always be presented, by very experienced teachers, in a manner geared to the educated layperson.
