TH61 Going Green: Becoming a Sustainable Hospital

When it opens, Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas will be one of the first LEED-certified hospitals in the United States. Presenters will discuss the sustainable design drivers, decisions, and cutting-edge project components incorporated at Dell, from the owner and architect's perspective, and examine the implications of heath care facilities going green.

   Learning objectives:

  • Identify key decision points which lead to going green and resources and opportunities which foster a project team's ability to successfully do so
  • Appraise key innovative design features and solutions of a green health care facility that realize potential positive impacts on user groups and operations
  • Evaluate the expected short-term and long-term benefits to users and return on investment of a sustainable health care facility
