With economies growing and standards of living continuing to rise, there is heightened pressure on energy and water supplies and an increasingly rapid change in our climate. Comprehensive analysis demonstrates that we need to change the way in which we consider and manage resources at all scales, from residential to global. This program highlights the particular changes that can be expected and looks at the ways in which our practice has to change to respond to the new challenges.
Learning objectives:
- Identify areas where change has significant impact on building design and function and enable change through planning and innovation
- Develop a framework to evaluate energy, water, and material use to achieve design goals in conjunction with sound sustainability practices
- Compare different strategies for achieving change for different building types and climactic conditions
