With all the talk of the value of sustainable design, we expect a greater impact on architecture practice and the built environment. Yet there are only a few hundred LEED-certified buildings worldwide. Fortunately, some enlightened clients see value and do build green buildings. So let’s ask them: What motivated you to build a green building? This panel discussion will explore the motivations behind two different clients who each built a LEED-certified building.
Learning objectives:
- Identify, from the examples of two clients who recently completed successful green buildings, what an architect can do to motivate developers and building owners to explore and build with sustainable design principles
- Compare and contrast the similar, different, and compatible value appreciation to explore and build with sustainable design principles from the different perspectives of a national commercial developer and a facilities director of a large corporation
- Demonstrate, through case study examples, design processes, team structures, and presentation techniques to explore and explain the value of green building
