For architects who are serving as IDP supervisors and IDP mentors, internship today is very different from what you might have experienced as a young professional. The Intern Development Program (IDP) is required by law in nearly all U.S. jurisdictions. Before you sign off on another form, take this training course to understand the roles and responsibilities of firm members and what makes a good mentor and walk away with some strategies for helping your interns become licensed architects.
Learning objectives:
- Describe the basic requirements of the Intern Development Program, including the definition of the IDP supervisor and IDP mentor roles, and apply those standards to your own firm setting
- Research and summarize the resources available to IDP supervisors and IDP mentors for use in assisting interns with their internship requirements
- Evaluate, through self-assessment, comprehension of the concepts of quality mentoring based on national assurance standards
