For many professionals, the route to success often involves a mix that includes the development of knowledge, skills, and capabilities; opportunities to apply oneself; willing employers; a nurturing environment; a positive economic climate; and just plain luck—being in the right place at the right time. But, despite the fact that leadership is frequently cited as the single most important criterion required for growth to the top, virtually no professional curriculum included information to help learn what it is, nor do many employers provide such information directly. This program will present an organized approach to understanding and developing leadership in architecture practice, including information, strategies, and practical advice.
Learning objectives:
- Assess whether you or others “have what it takes” to be an effective leader and grow in the firm
- Identify what you don’t have that you need to develop in order to become an effective leader and grow in the firm
- Determine how to develop the necessary capabilities and skills required to lead effectively and grow in your firm, including capabilities in newly emergent and important areas, especially sustainable design
