What does it take to make architecture a sustainable profession, capable of serving a diverse and rapidly changing society? What happens when the skills and abilities, firm investment, and productivity are lost to female and minority attrition? This program is an exploration of individual female career paths to identify the life-career balances and conflicting priorities that face not only women but also all architecture professionals. Sustainability is sometimes defined as “not hindering the future.” Many architects need to lead their personal and professional lives so as not to hinder their and the profession’s future development and growth. Discover some innovative solutions that meet today’s changing world.
Learning objectives:

- Explore the causes that lead to decreased productivity and increased burnout and attrition when this life/work balance is not achieved
- Discover, compare, and contrast the creative solutions that some firms and individuals have incorporated into their work and lives; recognize which ideas are appropriate to which environments and how they might be adapted to fit other scenarios
