Permaculture uses the principles of natural ecosystems to inform the design of sustainable human environments. It is grounded in pattern literacy and application. Regenerative design develops systemic thinking capacity to express and elevate the potential of the places we inhabit. This seminar explores the ongoing contribution of permaculture to the evolving field of regenerative design and the relevance of both to how we generate built environments in a changing global context. This session expands on the issues presented in the general session about regenerative design.
Learning objectives:
- Practice the use of systemic thinking frameworks derived from permaculture and regenerative design as a means for achieving higher order design insight
- Discuss how the design professions will need to evolve in order to anticipate the emerging needs of the 21st century
- Identify ways to begin integrating regenerative thought processes into your design practices
