Examine eight case studies that distinguish the inclusive design process for green housing from past sequential design modes. A special emphasis will be placed on the mindfulness necessary for each design decision and the cooperative nature of the process. The projects are chosen from all climate zones and vastly varying densities so that all practitioners can take away some valuable lessons to integrate into their practices. Ideas for the future will be floated and a question-and-answer session should provide food for thought as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in green housing design.
Learning objectives:
- Identify the components of a successful cooperative design process
- Discuss each choice made by the speakers in the design of eight green housing case studies
- Analyze what strategies of green design will work for your specific practice type and location
