Despite increasing implementation of sustainable design strategies within school projects across the country, districts and architects continue to search for data on built results to support green design decisions. The results are in. We’ll explore measured performance rates for absenteeism, learning outcomes, staff satisfaction and comfort, energy usage, and building operations at the 2006 AIA/COTE Top Ten Green Projects Award-winning Benjamin Franklin Elementary School and other green education facilities.
Learning objectives:
- Explain how daylighting, access to views, indoor air quality, and ventilation affect student and teacher performance
- Compare projected and actual performance and explore the difference
- Demonstrate the tools available to evaluate performance
