VL4/5: Training Fundraising Volunteers. . . If I Have to Do it Myself, Where Do I Begin?

Jill Pranger , ACFRE
President , Pranger Consulting and Training
      After 20 years of professional fundraising and management experience, in 2003 Jill established Pranger Consulting and Training, an independent consultancy assisting not-for-profit organizations with their fundraising programs and providing board, volunteer, and staff training. During her career, Jill worked with National Technical Institute for the Deaf, Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/ Syracuse Region, Highland Hospital Foundation, Seneca Zoo Society, William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, Park Cities YMCA, and Central YWCA.
      After holding the CFRE designation since 1995, Jill achieved the ACFRE credential in 2006. She was granted the title Master Teacher by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in January 2000. In 1994, she received the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Region III Development Showcase Award in the Annual Fund Category.
      As a volunteer, Jill is a member of the AFP International Board and serves on the AFP International Constituencies & Products Task Force and the Collegiate Membership Task Force. She is Past President of AFP - Genesee Valley Chapter (Rochester, NY), where she also chairs the CFRE Advancement Committee. She is President of the Junior League of Rochester and Past Board Chair for Rochester Hearing and Speech Center. She has 29 years of volunteer service with the American Red Cross as a CPR/First Aid Instructor Trainer and Water Safety Instructor. Jill can be seen on the Internet teaching the AFP on-line First Course in Fundraising (afpnet.org).
      Jill holds a B.S. in Education and a B.A. in History from Southern Methodist University, and has completed graduate coursework at the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, the Margaret Warner School of Education and Human Development, and National Technical Institute of the Deaf, Rochester Institute of Technology.

      Whether starting from scratch or taking an existing program to a new level, this session will provide information about what is needed to develop a productive and effective Annual Giving Program. Planning, setting goals, specific techniques, expected performance, monitoring progress, use of volunteers, and reporting of results will be covered. Additionally, ideas will be shared about how to keep the annual giving program vibrant year after year after year after year after year…
