Asking is about the right person asking the right prospect for the right project at the right amount at the right time in the right way. Giving is about the prospect’s interests and emotions, not your organization’s needs. It’s your job to figure this all out – and the risk (or reward) is higher when you seek larger gifts. This session includes practical tips, bad mistakes, worse myths, success stories, and handouts you can use back home.

Benefits and Learning Objectives

  1. Question some of the “basic principles” promoted in the fundraising profession.
  2. Focus on prospect and donor interests and emotions.
  3. Understand the need to evaluate written communications.
  4. Evaluate organizational approach to fund development.
