This session will discuss new developments in the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Programs offered by ABMS recognized boards. MOC can provide an important framework to drive improvement and help practicing physicians understand and appreciate a population-based measurement driven practice paradigm. The architecture of the program will be described, along with opportunities for institutional-practitioner collaboration to reduce redundancy and achieve improvement.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Describe the shared expectations of ABMS boards related to time limited certification (now called Maintenance of Certification).
- Discuss the professional values embedded in MOC-related activities that support clinical improvement and understanding of population health metrics.
- Develop organizational strategies to engage physicians in improvement work using the MOC framework.
